Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto just revealed that Nintendo will be launching a Super Mario game for iPhone. The announcement was made during the iPhone 7 unveiling on Wednesday, September 7.
“We have created Super Mario Run to be perfect for playing on your iPhone,” said Miyamoto, the man responsible for bringing us the iconic character more than 35 years ago.
For years, gamers have been critical of Nintendo for refusing to bring their famous game titles on iOS and Android. They’ve opted to release games on Nintendo DS, which doesn’t have the same reach as iPhone.
“Super Mario has evolved whenever he has encountered a new platform, and for the first time ever, players will be able to enjoy a full-fledged Super Mario game with just one hand, giving them the freedom to play while riding the subway or my favorite, eating a hamburger.”
You will be able to download Super Mario Run on the App Store later this year. As for the Android version, no announcement has been made as of this writing.
